I am MANI-LOCKED - Sherlock Nail Art

A very happy new year to you all!! A little belated but I have a lovely nail art post for you all to try and make it up. I am posting a mani of how I started my year. With the new season of SHERLOCK!! The final episode is tonight*wipes tear*, so I thought it fitting to do a mani for it.

Sherlock airs in US on the 19th and Fierce Make-Up and Nails and Gnarly Gnails have created I AM MANILOCKED nail art challenge. Details how to be part of this are at the bottom of the page along with a gallery of the manis people have posted.

I am a massive Sherlock fan, I have the complete collection of books, watched the movies and of course BBC's Sherlock, which is ah-may-zing!!
I used my collection of Sherlock Holmes books for inspiration for this mani, and specifically chose His Last Bow, seeing as the last episode is called His Last Vow. Rather fitting don't you think??

Here is a picture of the book I used for inspiration as well as the polishes I used for the nail art.

So that is the inspiration behind my design, lets take a look at what I came up with...

I used the spine of the book and TRIED to replicate it on my accent nail

I used the damask style (kinda) print on the cover of the book on my nails using a stamping plate (details of which one I used will be below). I then added some pink 2mm rhinestones to try and make the nail art flow and match the accent nail which I tried to copy from the spine of the book. I thought I did not too bad a job.

Polished I used:
Duri Rejuvacote
Barry M Grey
Sally Hansen Wet Cement
Sally Hansen Raven
OPI I'm India Mood For Love
Seche Vite

I also used:
Nail Glue
2mm Pink Rhinestones
Red Angel Stamping Plate RA112
Stamper and Scraper
Fine Nail Art Brush

Will you be watching Shelock tonight?? Share your Sherlock Mani if you do one!
#MANILOCKED2014 to share your picture on Instagram and to share it on your blog go to www.tinyurl.com/manilocked2014 I would love to see them!!

Urban Decay Metropolitan & Stamping

Today's post is my favourite polish since I became a ail polish addict going back about 4 years. It was one of the first polishes I brought along with a few other Urban Decay polishes.
The polish I am showing you today is Urban Decay Metropolitan. It a old polish and as I understand it is discontinued.

This polish is maroon/burgundy with tiny pink micro glitter in it.
It applied really well, and could reach opacity in one thick coat but in the pictures I have used 2 coats. The glitter isn't hungry in the pictures I have on one coat of Seche Vite.
It is more sparkly in real life and it isn't even hard to remove as most glitters are.

As per usual, I can't ever leave well alone and just had to add some nail art to it. I haven't stamped much lately so I figured I would pull out the old stamping kit and see where it took me. I have to say I'm really happy with the outcome. I used Bundle Monsters BM214 plate for the image and a few bits and bots to bling it up a little.

lets take a look at the pictures...

Polishes I used:
Duri Rejuvacote
Urban Decay Metropolitan
Barry M Foil Effects Gold

I also used:
Bundle Monster BM214 stamping plate
2mm clear Rhinestones
Silver Micro Beads (caviar beads)

The over all look is really elegant and I can imagine myself wearing something like to a wedding as I reminds me of an outfit I have in my closet.

Nails Inc Stamping and Double Accent

I have been looking for Nails Inc Hampstead Gardens for a while and finally it is in my possession!
It is the perfect honey mustard colour and like nearly all Nails Inc creme polishes a one coater.

I thought I would christen it with some stamping and a double accent but instead of going for the ring finger and thumb I went for the ring finger and the pinky.

Lets have a look at what it turned out like...

Polishes I used:
Duri Rejuvacote
Nails Inc Hampstead Gardens
Nails Inc Black Taxi
Essie Good To Go Topcoat

I also used:
Gold coloured 2mm rhinestones (2 for each accent finger)
Red Angel Plates RA 112

The stamping came out a little rough, my scraper has gone all wonky donkey on me and would scrape off properly, I tried to use my new XL stamper and scraper which I got recently but I still gotta figure out how to use these properly, I think the stamper needs filing or something.

Over all though I am happy with how this looks! And glad I finally got Hamsptead Gardens. Shame I have a night shift and had to take it off the same day.

Thanks for reading!

Eid Manis!!

Some of you may know that Eid has just recently passed. For those of you who didn't know or don't know what Eid is , I wont go into detail here but there are 2 different types of Eid. there is Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Ada (but we just call them Small Eid and Big Eid) you can types those in a search engine and find out what each of them are.

Eid is kind of like Christmas I guess, the reasons for each celebration differ but on Eid we all get dressed up wearing new clothes and make loads of scrumptious food and go visit family and friends.Which is kinda like Christmas right?

Obviously I can't get dressed up for Eid without having a mani to.compliment my outfit! There are 3 days of celebrating but I'm only going to.show you my manis for the first 2 days. I tried to find decent pictures of my outfits as well but unfortunately I couldnt find a good one for day 2.
on to the pictures!!

Day 1:

My outfit for the day! (and yes that is my phone and yes it's HUGE! lol)
Please excuse my messy room!

Polishes I used:
Essie 3in1 Base
Zoya Mitzi
Milani Neon Fresh Teal
OPI I’m In-dia Mood For Pink
Black Striper Nail Art Pen/Brush from eBay
Seche Vite

I also used a medium length striper brush which I also brought from eBay.

I really love how all these colours go together! I don’t usually go for bright manis but I really loved this! Zoya Mitzi is a matte polish but I decided to add topcoat to it so it would be nice and shiny like the other nails.

Day 2:

My outfit for the day! I totally forgot to take one standing up so you get one of me sitting! :)
P.S. Look at my henna!!

Polishes I used:
Essie 3in1 Base
China Glaze Fifth Avenue
Zoya Moxie
Seche Vite

I used Red Angel stamping plate in RA 112.

I tried to match my nails with the velvet on my sleeves and I think it worked pretty well! I did mattify this later on with a matte topcoat and it looked awesome but I didn’t get a chance to take a picture. Maybe I will do a similar mani again and make sure to take pictures of it matte so you can see what I mean.

Stamping Black and Pink Roses

Today I have some more nail art to show you, and more roses at that too!!  This time I did some stamping. It is not my neatest stamping, I did these in a hurry and the topcoat smudged the black roses a little. But I'm still happy with the over all effect.

On to the pictures...

The second picture is not very colour accurate for the pink roses, my camera decided to make it more neon than it is.

I used one image of the rose and stamped 3-4 time alternating between the black and pink on each nail. I stamped all the black roses first, cleaned my stamping plate and then stamped all the pink roses.

Polishes I used:
Essie 3in1 Base
Barry M Matte White (2 coats)
Barry M Black
Barry M Fushia
Seche Vite

Stamping Plate I used:
Red Angel RA 116

So what do you think?
